Joining the Parade in Ida, Michigan
Each December, thousands of people are drawn to Ida, Michigan, for the Christmas in Ida Festival. Altogether, the festival brings more than 36,000 visitors to this community of 5,000 — the most popular attraction being the Parade of Lights.
As part of the community, MGU joins the annual parade. Employees from our Monroe, Michigan, office decorate a street crew truck with lights and help light up the parade. Other employees hand out candy to the young and young at heart.
The two-hour-long parade features more than 100 illuminated entries, ranging from fire trucks with glowing Santas to farm combines and front-end loaders decked out with lights.
Sharing the Warmth in the Midst of Winter
MGU helps provide heat and comfort to many Michigan residents each winter. Through our own funds, customer donations and matches of those donations from MGU, we provide heating assistance in partnership with the Salvation Army.
Would you like to Share the Warmth this winter? MGU customers can donate on their monthly bill or make a one-time donation. We'll match all customer contributions (50 cents on every dollar) and send those dollars to the Salvation Army for distribution to those in need.
Sharing Info at the Home and Lifestyle Show
MGU has participated in the annual Home and Lifestyle Show. The show is organized by the Home Builders Association of Monroe County, and held at the Expo Center at the Monroe County Fairgrounds.
The event showcases remodelers, builders and suppliers in the region. It also represents other home or lifestyle industries, such as furniture, insurance, travel, lighting, fencing, garden supplies, cars, boats, and recreational vehicles.
Leaders at MGU volunteered to staff a booth on the grounds to give local residents a chance to visit. This was a perfect opportunity to compare energy prices, provide promotional items and inform customers about rebates regarding natural gas appliances.
