Your bill will come from Michigan Gas Utilities, regardless of which supplier you choose, and you will pay Michigan Gas Utilities for both supply and delivery. We'll pay the supplier.
No. Your tax rate remains the same.
Under the Gas Choice program, Michigan Gas Utilities charges a $0.042 per Ccf balancing charge to all customers who choose alternative suppliers.
The balancing charge is not new. It is currently included in the Gas Cost Recovery (GCR) factor you pay as an Michigan Gas Utilities customer. It covers costs associated with gas storage and moving gas out of storage and into the distribution system when you need it — costs that don't go away when you switch to an alternative supplier. Your Choice supplier will deliver a fixed amount of gas each day, all month long, but your usage may vary daily. Gas storage guarantees that you will receive all the gas you need every day.
Call your alternative supplier if you have questions concerning your gas commodity charge (their name and phone number will be printed on your bill). If you have questions concerning other charges that appear on your bill, you will still call Michigan Gas Utilities. If you do not receive a satisfactory response from Michigan Gas Utilities or your new supplier, contact the Michigan Public Service Commission.
